Hi,

I’m coming up with an error when printing in Photoshop CS3 Extended using an Epson R800. When I set the page size to user defined (21.0cm x 160.0cm panoramic print) and paper type to Premium Semigloss Photo Paper (no problem if paper type is Plain etc.)in the page setup printer dialog box, it comes back with a program error "Could not complete your program request because of a program error". Then if I try to print again, Photoshop brings up an error "Before you can perform printer related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer".

I eventually printed the above using CS2, where there were absolutely no issues.

Not sure what’s happening?? Anyone?

Cheers

Warren

Warren,

Interesting, I have been having similar issues printing to an HP Z2100. Sometimes it prints fine but more often that not it seems to fail to print anything over A4 size (which is a bit of a problem with a large format printer!) and bring up the error messages that you indicate. From memory the beta version also had a similar problem (and I was about to go hunt for a workaround in the labs beta forum) so it sounds like they haven’t totally resolved it yet.

It’s interesting for me as I had put the problem down to my win XP PC which has had some glitchy print problems ever since I installed SP2 a couple of weeks ago in anticipation of getting CS3. Ever since then my print spooler has been ‘terminating’ randomly and unexpectedly. Be interesting to know is this is a widespread issue?

I encounter the same "program error" when printing to an HP 9180 at sizes like 33×90 cm. Most frustrating.

I can’t print panos (mine are generally 23" by 4-9 feet) on my Epson 7800 using CS3 with the same "program error" appearing. Of course they print just fine in CS2. Same computer, drivers and printer.

I reported this in another thread a couple of weeks ago, but apparently Adobe still thinks there’s nothing wrong with CS3 printing, that it’s an improvement over CS2, and the fault – if any (??!)- lies with printer manufacturers and their drivers (even though those printers and drivers were current before Adobe dropped this CS3 printing garbage on us).

So as there is nothing wrong with CS3 printing and it is everybody else’s fault that things don’t work, don’t expect a fix anytime soon.

I believe there is something wrong with CS3

I’m having the exact same problem as the first poster. I can use Page Setup, but now Print… (ctrl-p). However, I can print with ‘Print One Copy…(alt-shift-ctrl-p)

I use a HP F300 all-in-one printer. I;ve tried deleting and reinstalling the printer, but still same same.

Since there are many facing this problem, I’m quite sure this is a bug.

There’s another thread about CS3 printing problems with over 200 messages in it. Printing in CS3 is – for a lot of people – very seriously broken. One of the print engine programmers answered these complaints on John Nack’s blog, basically saying the print engine isn’t broken. It’s now working *correctly* but they hear our anguished voices and are working on a fix – just don’t hold your breath waiting on it.
