is there a human that can see 16 bits per channel?
If you can find a printer and printer driver that can print 16-bit then it won’t be greyed out…….
And an OS printing API that will accept more than 8 bits/channel.
Asiva, different graphic program, works in 16-bit. I’m sure it prints. Whether it sends the print job as 16-bit, I don’t know.
You can’t print the image within Photoshop until you convert the image to 8-bit.
I must have $50,000 version of PS 7. My Print option is NOT grayed out for 16-bpc images and I dont think my two Epsons are 16-bpc devices either.
Oops, and I can’t go back to edit anymore and make myself seem smarter.
Eric – in recent versions of Photoshop, the image is automatically converted to 8 bit (same as Asiva does).
Chris,
So one may *think* that they are printing 16 bit (regardless of the logic behind that thought process), but photoshop converts it (silently) to 8 bit for printing?
Correct. (too many people were confused by print not working 😉
Just dont fix missing filters the same way Chris
many people confused about that too. 😉
