Every once in a while, I consider dropping PSP for PS. I am doing some research on this again. I tried the PSE 5.0 demo a couple of months ago, and deleted it in less than two days, but I wonder how one thing works in CS3, if different than PSE. I have not downloaded the CS3 Demo yet, and want some questions answered before I download such a huge file, as my ISP is very unstable right now.

In PSP, when I open a tool, I’ll use the Curves tool for this question, but it applies to all tools I normally use in processing large amounts of photos from sporting events. When I open the Curves tool in PSP, it automatically remembers the settings from the last time the tool was used. If I want to set it back to zero (default), there is a button in the tool pallet that will reset it. Having the last settings makes it very fast and easy when processing large numbers of photos mostly taken under the same conditions. Many photos work with the same settings, and others take a minor adjustment from the last use of the Curves tool. Does CS3 remember the last settings of tools that was used?

Does not remember last setting by default-by defaul it is set to start fresh, but you can call up any tone/color adjustment using the previous settings by holding Alt when calling the adjustment.

One more question. The latest version of the software I’ve used for years trashes exif data, and the company seems unconcerned about it. It seems like I’ve heard of problems with CS3 retaining exif data. While this may be unimportant to some, it is critical for me. Does CS3 have any problems retaining exif data?

I’m using Nikon D2H and D200 bodies. I mostly shoot jpg, and process in jpg, but when I do shoot RAW, I use Nikon Capture to process the RAW images, and convert to jpg, and will continue to use NC to process RAW images if I purchase CS3. Will CS 3 handle this ok?

Any Nikon users have problems retaining exif data using the methods and software I mentioned in last paragraph?
