When I try to download brushes, it says it’s going to open with Photoshop.BrushesFile I tried changing it to my extraction program, but it says it can’t read the script.

When I click okay, it opens Photoshop, and nothing happens, the brushes don’t appear in the brush tray, and I can’t figure out where they go, or how to get them to work.

What do I have to do to get my brushes?

This might be dependent upon the version of Photoshop you’re using. Which is….what?

New brushes are a different format than older versions can deal with. Most folks who offer brush sets for download make the distinction somewhere near the file’s link, so that’s something to keep an eye out for.

In the latest versions, Brush files (.abr) can go anywhere but are appropriate to put in thye Presets>Brushes folder. If you do that they will appear in the flyout menu for easy loading.

If you put them somewhere else you can load them manually by clicking the Load button and navigating to their location.

Right click on a brush set in your broswer, and pick the option to save the link as a file. Save it somewhere where you will be able to find it later. From Photoshop, using the Brushes pallette, load that file.
