Is there a filter or method in photoshop of taking a grayscale infrared image:

http://www.ir55.com/images/White%20hot%20WH%20Thermal%20infr ared%20human%20face%20image.jpg

and turning it into an image similar to here:

www.ir55.com/infrared_IR_camera.html

Where the brightest bits are red and then slightly duller yellow then green then blue being the dullest.

(I would be taking a grayscale infrared photo with a camera then hoping to colour it in this way).

I don’t know of a one button quick fix solution, but I would think that you could do it with the "replace color" function one color at a time. Select each grayscale level and then assign a color of your choice to it. Repeat until the whole photo is colored. You first have to change modes from B/W to Color or it won’t accept any color commands. Have you colorized B/W photos before? It isn’t as easy as it would seem. I like to create a new layer for each color, changing it’s mode to color and then placing only that one color on the layer. Then I have full control of it to set it’s opacity, tone, edge blurring, etc. ( I use Photoshop not Elements, but you should be able to easily do the same with Elements).
