This was a problem for me with CS2 as well: When working on a promo piece (PSD file) in CS3, the system gets VERY slow and almost stops working. This always occurs when editing type layers, and doesn’t seem to change if I switch to a different font (so I don’t think a damaged font is the culprit).

I have a Dell system running XP SP2 with 3GB RAM and more than enough processing power. Right now, with the doc open (it is 24.1M/74.8M in size), the system (in task manager) is at about 5% CPU usage and CS3 is using 245,256K of memory. But, when I begin to edit a type layer, the CPU usage suddenly jumps to 60% or more.

I dropped down the hardware acceleration in windows, but to no avail, and played with the cache and memory settings in PS as well. Still slow as heck and making life difficult…Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
