Whenever I try and use stoke or fill on a feathered marquee box I get a feathered stroke or fill as well, how do I avoid this?

Take the feather off the marquee?

But I want a rounded box, which I use feather for don’t I? If I take the feather off after I’ve created the box I still get the feathered fill/stroke effect.

Make the rounded box with the Rounded Rectangle tool.

Make sure you use the right option!

You have to make the marquee without a feather in the first place. The entire reason for a feather on a marquee is so it will affect pixels in some way.

Since you didn’t explain in your original post what you were trying to do, what version of Photoshop you were using, etc., it’s impossible to give a quality answer.

Assuming you aren’t using an ancient version, John has the answer for you.

There was no need to get angry.

Yes the best way does seem to be to use the rounded rectangle in paths mode and then make to a selection, giving you the rounded marquee you’re after, then right click fill. Thanks for that John.

Cheers.

(I don’t think Ed was angry – it always helps to give more information with a question.)
