I’m using XP pro wand Photoshop 7. I have several files, flattened TIFFs with only one layer, that look really great in photoshop. The color is lush and the blacks are nice and black but when I save for the web and the image goes into image ready the colors get muted. The saturation of colors and blacks get light and look bad to me. It looks as if the image has been screened back or the opacity has changed. When I pull-up the JPEG in the browser it looks the same way.

Try changing the color profile to sRGB and see if that helps.
