I’ve had this problem crop up this week after having CS2 installed on my Windows box for over a year now.

Whenever I run Photoshop and click on the color boxes either on the tools windows or (if I’m editing text) on the top toolbar, Photoshop now just locks up. All the updates for both CS2 and Windows have been installed. I do have Adobe Reader 8 installed but this never caused a conflict in the past.

I tried a re-install of Photoshop with no success. Any ideas?

Charles, I’m having the same problem as of a few days ago. I switched to the Windows color picker (preferences > general > color picker) and that resolves the problem, but of course when you do that you’re stuck with the Windows color picker. At least it works, though.

have you guys tried resetting the pref per the faq? (reinstall doesn’t reset your preferences).

Hi, Dave. Yeah, I tried resetting them on launch and simply deleting them from disk before restarting, but no joy: as soon as I do anything color-related, such as selecting a new color or even opening the fill dialog, it freezes. When I restart and switch to the windows color picker, it’s fine. I haven’t tried reinstalling yet.
