Hi,

I currently have www.fotolia.com as a paid web site. That is, if I need a picture, I go up and search for (and download) what I want.

Unfortunetly, more and more, this web site does not have what I want (for example, I wanted a picture of the New Jersey State Flag) Nada.

The nice thing about fotolia is the typical pictue I do take is 1 buck.

What would you all recogemend for around that price range but maby a better (bigger?) selection that will be able to produce results.

Naturally, free pictures would be nice, but I am not so sure they would have a great selection.

Thanks

Bob

I’m not really a designer, and i know others will be by with suggestions. in the meantime, i’m sure adobe would like to remind you of their stock-photo service… 🙂

Huh! Compared to Getty Images, Magnum, Image Bank and all the other "real" photo agencies, they almost pay you to use their stock!

istockphoto have a wide range of subject matter much of which is pretty good quality too.

As a photographer I actually find it quite worrying that you can buy pictures royalty free for a dollar.

Most of my istock purchases (all to date, I think) have been $1 each. You do pay higher for larger resolution images, but I always buy the smallest.

As well, you can browse istock free, to see if what you want is in there without buying (i haven’t used fotolia, perhaps it is the same).

I like sxc.hu but it attracts a less-knowledgeable crowd of submitting photographers that may have no understanding of model releases. Be careful with any photo that has a person in it.

Another site like sxc.hu is morguefile.com

What Jim says.

Lots of good stuff there for comps, though. Lots of dreck, too.
