Hi, I was just wondering before going ahead and purchasing an upgrade to Photoshop CS3… Is there any way that I can install this under Service Pack 1? Service Pack 2 unfortunately overheats my videocard and puts too much strain on it, even after a few hours. I was and still am a huge fan of the CS series, but CS3 is what I need and I haven’t found a single way to install it under SP1.

For those going ahead and telling me to try installing Service Pack 2 again, I won’t travel that route ever again. Not only did I have problems while having the Service Pack installed, I had problems even after I uninstalled it (As it attached itself to my bootstrap, and I couldn’t boot back into XP at all!) Losing almost 9 months of web-design that hadn’t been backed up yet. There are issues with the Service Pack including security holes that I haven’t found in Service Pack 1 just yet, or have, but they have been filled and fixed by Microsoft.

If anyone can help me, that would be great. Otherwise, I don’t think I will be upgrading, and I don’t think I’ll be able to purchase anymore software from Adobe. If Service Pack 2 is a requirement on all further applications, I won’t be able to run anything.

Thanks

yes. do a forum search. someone posted a registry key in the last couple days that "tricked" the system into reporting that sp2 was installed while it still had only sp1 on it.

1: Buy a new video card. Sticking with SP1 is madness.

2: Back-up every day – not every nine months!

Not exactly madness. I had trouble with SP2 also. Spent hours on the phone as I could never get online through verizon dsl once I installed SP2. tried everything for weeks. Microsoft said verizons fault, verizon said MS fault. eventually gave up on SP2.
Wish CS3 worked on SP1 and am going to look into the info posted earlier. Vista is just way to unstable right now for me. XP has been rock solid for me…even more than OSX
