I want more scratch space.

One thing that’s always bothered me about this program. If you’re working on a large image or zoomed in close, you don’t get any
scratch space around the edges of the image. (Assuming large or zoomed enough that the entire image doesn’t fit on the screen all
at once.) This is particularly annoying if you’re trying to use certain brushes to just barely affect the edge of the picture, or
trying to make a selection that goes right up to the edge, etc. Allowing, say, an inch of scratch space around the image would be
enourmously helpful. (Amount of scratch space could be adjustable in the preferences window.) Basically, it’d be nice to allow the
cursor to click outside the image and still affect the edge. This is possible if you zoom out far enough that the entire image fits
on screen, but then you lose the benefit of precision. As it is now, I find myself increasing the canvas size in order to do
certain operations, and then cropping it back down afterwards, but this is really a pain. Anybody with me on this one?

I agree. It’s a pain. What you are doing is all you can do for now.
