Photoshop can’t access the internet to check for updates

I pick the update button located in Help menu, but nothing happens. Any suggestion? Thank you

There is already a post with this same title, but it refers to and old problem with Explorer 7 beta. Of course, now Explorer 7 is not beta. I have now the same problem that had that folk.

What version and why are you trying to update?

I use Photoshop CS2. Although I have the latest version, 9.0.2 (downloaded manually), the update button does not work. Once it has picked, it must appear a window connecting to internet and looking for possible updates, but that window does not appear, nothing happens, such as the update button never was picked. Can you help me, Ed, or anybody else? Thanks a lot.

The only obvious thing that comes to mind is a question of whether you use any firewall software? If so, perhaps that is blocking access and inhibiting the update process. If you do have a firewall and it uses automatic rule-building to control what applications get blocked, you may need to inspect the list of blocked sites and see if anything Adobe-related appears in the list, then unblock it if so.

I may be wrong, but I don’t believe there are any new updatess to CS 2.

I have uninstalled the Firewall I was using but all is the same. It is a very strange thing.
