I am looking to print trading/baseball cards with a picture on the front and some text one the back. How can I print these using a duplex printer. How do I get it to print 2 different images front and back and line them up correctly? I am looking to print a few of these 2.5" x 3.5" cards on a sheet and then cut them. Thanks for your help.

Photoshop doesn’t compose more than one page per image file, and each file prints separately. Accordingly, you can only print one image on one side of the paper in a single process from Photoshop per se; as a result, no duplex printing.

There may be a workaround, however. In Photoshop CS3 you can create a "PDF Presentation" that is a multipage PDF file from multiple image files. If you were to create two letter-sized image files you could publish them to a PDF Presentation, and then from Acrobat or Reader you might be able to print the multipage PDF file using your printer’s duplex function. This will, of course, require very careful lineup of the images composited onto the two pages, and may require some experimentation.

How many copies are you printing? If its only a couple of dozen, just print the front image on one side, turn the card stock over in the printer and print the text on the back. Duplexing is great, but as mentioned above, Photoshop won’t handle it as such.

I do this quite often, but I create my print setups in Illustrator. You have much greater control over exact line up and locations on the page and with a little math you can get the front and backs lined up perfectly.

PDF will work, but it’s a bit trickier to get the lineup just right and sometimes takes several generations of moving images, saving as pdf, printing, and repeat to get the alignment perfect.
