I’ll start by saying I am not a computer geek—but I need help from one.

After uninstalling the CS3 beta per the Adobe Tech Notes I now have a crazy problem. When I open an image in CS2 or, Photo Shop 7 for that matter. the colors are only Blue and yellow. When I run the curser across the image the info palette shows numbers that indicate the proper colors, when I expert the image to Image Ready the proper colors appear and if I print the image it prints perfectly. I have tried this with images in different formats from different files and always get the same result. I have un-installed CS2 and Photo Shop 7 and reinstalled them—-several times with the same results. I have a ticket with Adobe about this but have not had a reply in two days.
Any help would be appreciated.

first run adobe gamma in the control panel. select the wizard and CAREFULLY follow all the instructions. if that doesn’t work, reset your preferences per this faq article:

Thanks Dave—-I think you are on the right track —-but—

After readjusting Adobe Gamma images did open properly in CS2. When I closed an image and went to bridge the colors were the old blue and yellow but if I the asked bridge to open the image in CS2 it worked fine.
When I closed CS2 and came back to it later I was back at ground zero. It seems I have to reset Adobe Gamma just before I open CS2 then at least it is on even if Bridge isn’t.
I tried tth delete/reset preferences link but that didn;t seem to change anything.

Any other ideas?

did you get the dialog askign you if you wanted to reset the prefrences? if not, they’re not reset. also i THINK bridge has it’s own set of prefrences. if you look in the app settings folder under your user id in docs and settings you should be able to locate it and delete them.

hmm… so ps is now ok after running gamma?

if that’s the case, then I have an idea – may be stupid but what the hey… try regenerating the thumbnails in bridge. maybe it created the thumbs and applied the screwy color setting to the thumbnails. regenerating might clear it out. like i said, may be a dumb idea, but as i see it, might be worth a shot…

good luck, dave

ps is only good if I reset Adobe Gamma before I open PS—every time.

At least I can use it but it isn’t right.
I’m not sure I understand what you mean by regenerating the thumbnails in bridge—how do I do that?

Sorry to be so dense but even though I have used computers since the 70’s they still baffle me at times. I am an over 60 photographer caught in the techno world. Guess I need to take some classes.

Thanks Gene
