Greetings,

I have opened an original Nikon RAW file (not as an object) from my D2x and done a RAW open adjustment and saved it in CS3 as a photoshop file.

Next I flattened it and converted it to an 8bit image and saved it as a JPEG file. Now when I try to open it Photoshop is sending it to the Camera RAW adjustment module and really wacking out how the colors looked when it was saved.

Running build: 10.0 on Windows XP SP 2 w/ all current updates. Dual 64bit AMD processors (2.66) w/ 4gigs of RAM. Help appreciated.

Best regards,

Rip Noel

Go to Photoshop Preferences (Ctrl-K),
Select "File Handling"
Uncheck "Prefer Adobe Camera RAW for JPEG Files"

Are you double clicking on the JPEG in Bridge to open it in PS? If so, look at the Bridge Preference…General…Double Click Edits Camera RAW in Bridge.

No I am not double clicking nor is double click to open in Camera RAW checked in the preferences. Something is amis here I do believe… I have been a user since 2.0 and also a beta tester… not saying I’m not missing something but hoped I had.

This should not be happening. What else should I check?

Thanks for trying to help… should I go to Red Pill and post this?

This is even happining when I choose file open from inside Photoshop CS3. Can I post this file so you can see what I’m talking about? JPEGS produced w/CS2 do not do this, even when opened w/CS3…

Try Open As JPEG, which bypasses ACR even when it is set to the default. Also, try deleting your preferences.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your help. "Open As" does open the JPEG fine. How & which preferences are you sugesting I delete? Then do I just set them up again through the preferences UI?

I still wonder why Bridge see these images as RAW images. It totally blows the thumbnails & previews making them useless.

I appreciate your help and anything else anyone might suggest. I did for the record re-install Photoshop CS3 to see if that would resolve the problem but it did not.

Thanks,

Rip

To reset your preferences see the FAQ as I suggested in post #3 of this thread.

or here, see #4

And yes, you have to set them up again through the UI.
