Yes I downloaded it yesterday.

On the download page there is a drop down menu at the top of the page where I chose the extended verison.

But when I installed it, it said there was a problem with 30 day trial. To enter in a serial number, which I don’t have yet.

I have it on order. I guess I’ll have to wait.

Is there any reason to expect that the trial version may have fewer instalation problems than the standard purchase-up-front version (e.g. maybe it doesn’t install ‘unnecessary’ payloads or maybe there are some undocumented patches that have made there way into this newer release)?

note that previous photohop trials have been notoriously fussy about timing out if you mess with em! once that happens, the only way to reinstall it and get a 30 day demo is to reformat the hard drive.

Dave,

Thanks much for your historical perspective on this (as I have no previous experience with trial versions of Photoshop).

Sounds like you are saying that if I download the trial version and install ‘by the book’ (i.e. don’t make any changes to the install process as discussed elsewhere) I am possibly going to have a problem if I don’t purchase/activate the trial within 30 days. The problems that the beta users are having with old installations would seem to be another example of this. I don’t want to get into that mess!

So, if I understand it, it would be pointless to get the trial version and I personally might be better off to continue to postpone my purchase of CS3 until I see fewer CS3 posts about installation problems and crashes.

waiting might be wise if it’s important for you to run the trial before buying…

what i meant though was that if messed with – especially by changing system clock or trying other ways to circumvent the 30 day use restriction – the trial versions in the past would immediately time out and you’d lose any days left of your 30 day trial.

I don’t know if/how some of the fixes presented here (especially futzing with the install package) might affect the trial version vs. the beta.
