Version 7 Doesn’t Handle RAW?

Hi,

It seems the PS ver 7 I have doesn’t have most of Photoshop’s functionality with RAW images.

Would this be changed in later versions of PS?

What would I have to do now to make a RAW photo able to be worked on in PS7?

Version 7 is a long time ago.

It probably would. One of the most remarkable properties of newer versions is that they’re different from the previous versions.

I’d check out version 10 (AKA Ps CS3). I believe that there is now a trial version on the site.

Shoot it with a Nikon and use Nikon’s plugin for PS7.
I’ll bet that the other major makers have their own plugins tool.

I can definitely certify that Nikon’s plugin can open NEF files from a D70.

Since PS 7 is the oldest version that is eligible for a CS3 upgrade I would recommend that you upgrade. You get all the latest raw tools and many additional enhancements over v7.

I downloaded the trial of CS3 and I see it is handling my RAWs now.

Looks like an upgrade is in order, and if this is the oldest version eligible for an upgrade, it looks like I better do it before I become ineligable and have to pay full price.
