HI

The images that I use to save for web in photo shop, the JPGES are coming out blurry.

Is this opomization problems? I usually save around 60-70%

Any reasons this maybe? Should I use unsharp mask?

Anyone got workflow ideas?

Thanks

At what stage are you applying your sharpening?

Images should always be sharpened at their final size. The "Image Size" option within SFW robs you of the opportunity of doing this.

Best practise is to open your PSD or TIFF master file, resize, then Sharpen before going to Save for Web.

(After the Save for Web, close the image without saving, otherwise you’ll overwrite your master file with the smaller version.)

HI

Do you allways sharpen your images?

Yes i think you might be right there. Most of the time I have my master file and I know that my image is say 150 by 150 I will work on the images and then use the save for web. then in the image size box (in save for web), adjust the size to 150 by 150.

Should I work with my master size and the use crop / then sharpen / then save for web?

Thanks

Further to what Chris already wrote, Resize to what the Jpeg should be, then sharpen if needed, convert to sRGB, then SFW.

After that don’t change the file any more. If it needs a change, go back to the master file, and do the above again.

You’re sure you’re not saving them as Progressive are you? Progressive jpegs display very blurry at first, then get clearer as they load in a browser.

Unless you have very quick eyes, a massive jpg file, or a very slow internet connection, you aren’t going to see the progression on a progressive jpg.

Could you possibly have set Blur in Save for Web to something other than 0? The Blur setting is below the Quality Setting.
