Adam,

Sorry, I don’t have time for a step-by-step tutorial, but I will put you on the right track…

Open your brush options. Look for the Control drop down menus and choose Fade.

I think Adam’s speaking of the old fade option for the airbrush in previous versions. It looks like it’s now in the brush palette. Under the Other Dynamic options you can set the Opacity Jitter and Flow Jitter to fade and adjust the number of steps

Errrgh, no edit. I wish there was the option to switch between the old style of brushes and the new. I know I haven’t taken the time to learn the new brush palette options that well, but I really miss the old simple way.

Thanks for the help on my previous post. I promise that soon I will get a book, and digging around in a more organized fashion. Until then, ya’ll are stuck with me.

Last night I was fooling around with different effects and filters, and got some really neat images. These were PSE files that I converted to JPEG, and then attempted to email to my work address. A previous email of untinkered with images was successful.

After converting, I hit the attach to email, and it brought up Outlook Express…asked me for my logon…and that’s about it. I could see no visible attached file, and when I hit send, I got a "download incomplete, cannot save" message. Any ideas?

Also, I would like to make one of these images my desktop wallpaper. I have right clicked on web images in the past, and gotten a "make wallpaper" option. This isn’t occurring with the pics I have already sent.

Thanks in advance

You are probably better off not relying on all of these "automatic" features of Photoshop Elements. My suggestion would be for you to open your e-mail program as you normally do, write the message and attach the picture. As far is making one of your images that background for your desktop is concerned, open your desktop properties, go to the Desktop tab, and you can browse to find any picture that you want to use as your desktop wallpaper.

Sean,

As Jim says most of us don’t use the attach to E Mail … its much simpler doing it the other way.

It sounds like you are enjoying Elements … the best way to learn is just to play around with things … and to ask lots of questions when you get stuck 🙂

Yep, tinkering and breaking things is how I learn best anyways.

I ordered a book from Amazon that came pretty highly recommended: Photoshop Elements 2 Solutions. Hopefully that will take some load off of you people.

I did get an image to upload as my background/wallpaper, but it didn’t work through desktop–>properties–>browse. I just went to Windows Explorer, found the file, right clicked and chose select as background. I now have a beautiful automobile staring back at me.

Do not hesitate to ask questions. It helps others that read your question and replies.

Everyone here is happy to have a PSE question to think about 🙂 Sometimes even beyond PSE:)

I’ve been learning Elements 2 and would like to know what is a good book to help me when I get stuck. Something that is easy to follow.
Thanks. Carol
