CS3 Startup error messages

When starting up CS3 I get the following error messages in sequence. When clicking OK to each CS3 opens up as normal. Could someone kindly advise are these CS3 specific error messages or are they related to my computer?

(1) Could not load the mmx core routine module because it does not work with this version of Photoshop-

(2) Could not load the multi processor support module because it does not work with this version of Photoshop.

(3) Could not load fast core routines because it does not work with this version of Photoshop.

System:
Windows XP Pro, Core 2 Duo 2.00 Ghz, T7200 4MB 667Mhz, 1GB DDR2 PC5300 SODIMM,

I would guess these to be related to specific third-party plugins. I had a similar problem with CS2.

Nope. Those are Adobe plugins from an earlier version that are not compatible with the CS3 version. Odds are Alan has told PsCS3 to use his old version’s plugin directory as the additional plugins directory. The problem with doing that is that the plugins directory in the Photoshop program file hierarchy contains Adobe’s own version-specific plugins as well as any you may install there. It’s far better to put your third-party plugins in a completely separate directory (e.g., create "My Documents\Adobe Plugins\" or something like that) and then use that as your additional plugins directory for all versions of Photoshop (and for other programs using Photoshop-compatible plugins).

Odds are Alan has told PsCS3 to use his old version’s plugin directory as the additional plugins directory.

or installed over top of the old folder.

Guys

All that I have basically done is install CS3 without having uninstalled CS2. From earlier threads that I have read this seems to be the general feeling in so much as it gives you the chance to get to learn CS3 first and that CS2 is available to fall back upon if needs be.
What I have done however, as regards plug-ins, is pointed CS3 in the direction of the Elements 5 plug-ins folder (also installed) via Preferences. Am I to take it that this is not advisable and that I would be better not to select this option?

I made the same mistake – I wanted to keep CS2 around "just in case." After I separated out the PS plugins from all the rest, CS3 was happy.
