EFFECTS NOT AN OPTION TO APPLY TO A LAYER????

hi all,

basically i have pics of people which i have cut out and put onto a seperate psd file. I now want to apply the artistic filters etc, but they are not highlighted as an option…. although they are there on the original pic before i cut the person out??

Is there away around this?? or do i need to apply the artistic filter to the original pic and then cut it out?

Not all effects are avaialbe unless you’re in 8 bit RGB mode.

nice one thanks for this, so i assume that i will need to convert the new cutout image as 8 bit RGB then apply effect then re0input it into the file i want??
