All the creative suite (CS3) programs by default have a window that opens up with stuff like "Open a Recent Item", "Create new", etc… I clicked the "Don’t show again" in Photoshop and was wondering if there was a way to turn it back on? I’ve actually gotten kind of used to using it in InDesign and Illustrator now.

don’t have cs3 in front of me, but i’d look under either the help menu (first) and if i couldn’t find it there maybe under edit> prefrences – something like reset all warnings and dialogs…

It’s the welcome screen and can be retrieved under the help menu.

I’m not seeing anything on the help menu, and I just tried the "reset all warnings" option under settings and that didn’t work either. Thanks for the suggestion though… didn’t even notice that in preferences. hehe.

Interesting. Looks like it’s not there for PS.

I just installed the entire suite so this is the first time I went and checked for it.

I imagine resetting your preferences would reset that dialogue if you really want it.

It’s there in CS: Help>Welcome Screen. Second on the list. Look again. I’ll bet it is in CS2 as well.

But it’s not in CS3..at least in the Extended version.

Not in the normal version either. It didn’t come up the first time I opened PS CS3 come to think.

It is in CS2 under Help, I wonder if it was moved under preferences in CS3.

It doesn’t even seem to exist in CS3.

Well due to all the complaints about CS3, I’m downloading the trial version to see if it is the complete pig it’s claimed to be. Should be fun. Just blew my computer out, hope I don’t have to do it again after this.

"Fun" in a strange, masochistic kind of way……..

Well I just installed the trial version, it started up the first time in 10 seconds and re-starts in 3 seconds. Not seeing any of the complaints that other people seem to be having, but now I’ll have to see if I can break it.

P4 2.4Ghz with 1Gb RAM, Asus Mobo. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! and this is just my phone/fax machine.

O-o-o-o-o drool, drool.

FWIW, I installed the trial on my Vista laptop and also had none of the problems I’ve read. Seems faster, too

I’ve got a new Dell Inspiron laptop on the way (XP Pro), for location work. It’ll be interesting to see how my other activation of PSCS3 goes.

Bob Levine, I know you’ve advised in the past that people should wipe their new Dells before installing anything. That advice still applies, I assume? Will it have an XP Pro disc included that will allow me to just install the OS, without a bunch of Dell-related garbage?

Maybe it’s just me, but when I went back to CS2 after CS3 beta, I felt like I went back to driving a ’51 Chevy.

Nick

Did you specify an OS disk as part of your configuration? If not you’ll probably have to order it. The OS restore is normally on a separate partition on Dell laptops (at least here in the UK). But this is not the same as a Windows CD.

Dells still come with a lot of non-essential junk pre-installed with the drive image, including Dell-ware and Trial-ware.

Thanks for the heads up, John. The Dell hasn’t shipped yet, so I’ll call them today and check it out.

They’ll certainly include a CD if you request it — I ordered one retrospectively for a friend whose hard drive had gone and it cost £30.
