My PC died last week with all my applications on it. there was no warning, and no time to deactivate Photoshop CS3.

My new machine arrived today but, in their wisdom, Adobe tells me that I have had too many activations and will not give me access to it.

How on earth do I get around this? The old PC will never work again, so CS3 is not going to be activated from it>

Help.

Thanks in advance.

Call customer service. They can hook you up.

"Adobe tells me"….meaning Adobe Customer Support, who you’d normallly call for assistance in such cases? Or, are you referring to a dialog box that occurs when installing PS CS3? If the latter, then you’ll need to call Adobe Customer Support to request their assistance in resetting your activation status on their server.

Also, how many PCs have you installed PS CS3 to? That is also a factor. If one, then you should still be allowed a 2nd installation and activation under the normal retail license; but if 2 activations have already been performed on 2 separate PCs, that would explain your receiving the error message you did.

Thanks for your replies. It’s a dialogue box message.

I have an install on my laptop, and I’m trying to install on a new PC. I understood that it was perfectly legal to do this as I can only use one application at a time.

Jonty,

Yes, how you’re using PC CS3 on two machines is definitely legal and you’ve just hit a bump because of the hard failure of your desktop PC before you could do a deactivation of PS CS3. Since you cannot boot that failed PC to run the deactivation, all that can be done is to explain the problem to Adobe and have them reset your activation count from 2 to 1 on their server. They are usually cooperative in such situations from what I’ve seen.

A similar thing happened to me, and the call to Adobe was painless – I explained the situation, and they gave me a new activation number, and all was sweet.
