I spent 2 grand getting new SC3 our company have previously bought 3 SC2’s in other words have spent thousands of euro’s for adobe products…
But this is what we get now…SC3 Crashes with multiple images all the time it also crashes when i try open large multiple images …
I have read through forums here as elsewhere, i have tried get help from Adobe and nothing!!! Why is this happening!?We also Installed SC on our precision workstation and exactly the same thing! No error given – just program not responding and that’s it! I Cant describe the frustration we have gone through
Everyone who thinking get SC3 beware! SC3 Is the worst piece of software from Adobe iv’e seen so far!

Works like a dream on my machine.

Mind you – I did install CS3 the right way around.

So, did you apply the advice given here on the forum in the thread titled CS3 crashes all the time? Did you go through the knowledgebase?

What is your Scratch Disk Setup?

How much RAM do you have allocated to PS in Preferences?

update all drivers on the system. especially mouse and video. actually, remove the mouse drivers (if installed) and just use the default windows driver. see if that helps. there’ve been several reports of problems with newer versions of both logitech and ms intellipoint drivers.

if that doesn’t do it turn off hardware acceleration on the video card (can you do that in vista? in xp it’s in control panel> display> settings> advanced> troubleshooting) – if that works it’s a video driver problem. leave it off and contact the vid card maker and report the bug. most video manufacturer’s are pretty quick to fix bugs in their drivers.

Enable 3D Acceleration is marked on.

I also unistalled my Logitech mouse key board and driver i dont think i have any other drives installed except the ones What come with vista…

I cant even find the place on Vista control panel where i could turn of hardware acceleration?

look on your printers in windows, and make sure the AdobePDF printer is the default. I have found that it crashes heavily when any other printer besides the AdobePDF printer is set as the default.

I don’t have anything except the Canon as default and CS3 doesn’t crash.

Adobe PDF Printer? Since when is .pdf a printer?

I’ve never seen it defined as a printer. Like, what hardware is involved?

I’m such a klutz, apparently!

Hmmm, after writing the above, I went to Printers and Faxes, used the Wizard to search for Plug ‘n Play printers, and the Wizard comes up empty.

So, what convoluted process is involved to flag PDF as a printer? And WHY?

Inquiring minds want to know! 😀

To have the PDF printer, you need to have Acrobat (not just Reader) installed, or certain other software that includes it. It’s just a way of "printing" to a PDF file instead of to hardware, so you can make PDFs from apps that don’t have a "Print to PDF" or "Export to PDF" menu item.

Whether using "Syncronize" or "Previous Conversion" on a selection of multiple raw images in Bridge 4.0 (CS3), Bridge crashes, Windows offers to report the error, and then Bridge closes. In most cases, when reopening Bridge, the previous XMP image changes have been executed. In light of the many complaints regarding crashes when working with multiple images, I would hope Adobe takes notice and offers a "patch" to correct the problem.

Larry: Pagemaker has been installing a PDF printer since v5, InDesign also does that. Photoshop does not.

I’ve had a PDF printer for at least twelve years now. Didn’t mean to sound so, so………………., it has always been there for me.
