hello, i’m new to the forum. i’m looking for a filter, if there is one, that can give photos a retro look. any tips, suggestions, comments?

Third party filter plugins for Ps:

Grain Surgery Pro overlays the image with grain effects – convert to B&W and use the Tri-X imitation grain. If you use The Imaging Factory’s Convert to Black & White Pro to do the conversion you will also have a GUI that presents as if you were using a darkroom – bump up the contrast grade of paper and use the toner to slightly tint the result to the greenish hue that was a characteristic of the printing papers of that time.

Or you can actually take the shots on 35mm Tri-X film, push process and print on Ilford Warm Tone paper, which would give a truly authentic look. 😉
