OK I have a dino-version…. Photoshop 6.0 I plan do upgrade to CS2. When I install the upgrade will I need the serial number for the Photoshop 6.0 I have installed on my computer? It has been so long and we have moved twice I have no idea where half my computer stuff is!

hmmm probably WON’T need the serial # if it’s installed. did you register vers 6? if so adobe will have a record of the serial #. regardless, cs2 should install on the same machine the v6 is on as long as v6 is working. it will search for and find that as a qualifying product. but without the serial # or disk, you won’t be able to install it on ANOTHER machine.

Yes it is all working, I still use PS6 daily. I guess I will take my chances, if I have an issue I can always buy PS6 or another older (& compatable) version again. It should be registered.

Thank you for the help.

Actually, no, you will not need the serial number but only the original installation media for validation during the upgrade. You do not even need to have PS6 installed. For PS CS2 you will be using a new serial number that is issued with the upgrade. As you are speaking about an upgrade though, could it be you are acutally referring to CS3 or did you truly mean CS2? If CS2, you’d better hurry and get the upgrade while there are still some remaining on retailer shelves…if CS3 hasn’t taken over as may well be the case. Also note that PS6 does not qualify for an upgrade to PS CS3.

Thank you Daryl!!

I actually just bought a CS2 upgrade. I knew that I couldn’t upgrade to CS3 so I figured CS2 will do fine for now, after all I have been working on PS6 so anything is a step up!!

Next step… CS3 =)

Next step… CS3 =)

Call Adobe. You may well be entitled to a free upgrade to CS3.

@webcrossing.la2eafNXanI:

check the registery the serial number for version 6 and 7 are stored there. It should be under hkey_local_machine Software Adobe. should have the complete serial number listed there in readable format.
