Hello,

I am trying to put a photo of myself (headshot) on a business card. The problem I am running into is that I do not know what the dimensions should be for the headshot photo. I know how to resize it, but I am not too sure that it is right. Does anyone know of any tutorials that help you work with headshot photos for your business cards using Adobe Photoshop CS?

Thanks!

A business card (north America) is normally 2 inches by 3.5 inches in size. So your image can be up to that size. I have seen photos that will fill the entire card, with type overlaid on top, and others that just appear on one side, or even cropped tighter than the full size of the card. It is entirely a design decision what size to make the image.

The resolution of 300 ppi will give you good quality.

Bring the image in using the "Place" command. Holding the Shift Key to constrain the aspect ratio, you can resize using the corner handles of the Transform bounding box.

Because the placed image is a "Smart Object" you can keep resizing without degrading the image.
