Thanks guys, I think I’ve got it. So, I’ll have to learn how to use the pen tool after all!

The pen is your friend…especially if you have clients who want you to use the Q product 6.5 and below…Clipping paths…evil, evil clipping paths are the only way to transparent backgrounds in that program…
