I use the polygonal lasso tool to rotoscope with, occasionally I click in the wrong place and cannot undo a single-click, is there a way to do this?

How would the same concept be transfered using the ‘pen’ tool, in terms of keeping my alpha channels, the pen tool just creates a mask shape? Thanks

The Delete (Backspace) key will back up through the previously placed angle points laid down with the Poly Lasso.

Thanks. That was the only thing I did not try…

There are different modes for the Pen tool. Look at the icons on the Options Bar.

I have but none that help me cut out and seperate layers… Like the lasso tool does.

If you create a PATH with the Pen Tool (as opposed to a shape layer or filled pixels), that path can then be turned into a selection from the Paths Palette.

The Pen tool is by far the best way of making really accurate selections.

"The Pen tool is by far the best way of making really accurate selections."

Hard-edged selections, that is.

When I think of truly accurate selections I always take soft edges into account. Not all objects have them, but quite often even hard-edges require a bit of softening in order to create the illusion of authentic transition between the object and the negative space that surrounds it.

True, but you can add a small feather to the path selection if needed.

Thanks found the ‘make into slection" button…

However I still prefer ther lasso tool. Both are good.

Ctrl-Enter will turn a path into a selection.

Use the Pen for selections often enough and its superiority to a Lasso will become obvious.
