Torn Paper edges

Hi guys. Im trying to do a look like a ransom note. I know there must be a way to make a square shape and then make the edges look like they were hand torn from a magazine or paper. Like you would see on a ransom note. I just cant seem to figure out how to do it. Im using CS3. Thanks for the help.

Tear a piece of paper and scan it. Voila.

I dont have a scanner. And Id like each letter to be a different shape. There gotts be some kind of filter or brush or some tool to get the look Im trying to achieve.
