How can I replace a face on one photo with a different face from another photo?

Dear all,
I was trying to practise how to replace one face with another while keeping the rest of the body and the backgroung intact ( for example, my face on my photo with somebody else’s). Do I first need to bring the two photos on the same canvass? Then cut the face on the destination photo first and then cut another face from another photo and impose on it? Please could you explain?
