Get yourself a Font Management utility and weed out the little/never used ones. Load only the fonts you really need then if you do experience problems, finding the culprit won’t be to difficult.
Fonts are often included with software packages. Many years ago I bought CorelDraw 4, this eventually reduced drastically in price and in the end was practically a giveaway. On one of the CD’s was a set of 1,000 fonts.
