Linking pictures to excel file that has names

Hi,

When I shoot a school I can get the kids names on excel file. I than take the pictures and put the .JPEG number on the file. How can I link this excel file so I can match the name of the kid to the picture. Using PC with Windows XP Professional.

Do you mean you can enter the JPEG number in the excel spreadsheet or what?

My guess is that what you want to do can probably be done with scripting, but a more precise description of your workflow would help.

Thanks for replying so soon. Yes I think I need scripting. I was in a convention and saw someone that was doing a baseball team. They had the kids name, height, shirt number etc. on excel. They than ran an action or script that would copy the text from excel and paste it on photoshop thus creating trading cards with the kids name and info on it. Unfortunately I didn’t need that at the time so I didn’t pay much attention. Also on a database you can have name and picture number. Than on another database have picture and picture number. You can than run a query that will link both databases and dispay the picture with the name. The linking feature being the picture number. Sorry, this sounds complicated.

That’s standard Databse stuff (not that I’m an expert). You may want to ask in the PS scripting forum, being lazy, when I need something like this, I find a good programmer to do up a script for me.
