I am trying to create some buttons for the web in photoshop. So all I am doing is using the rounded edge rectangle shape and applying bevel and emboss to it, the background is transparent. When I insert this image into dreamweaver the corners appear to have a white furry edge. I am using Photoshop CS2… can anyone help please?

Much appreciated : )

Experiment!

It’s a good way to build a visceral understanding of the application.

I believe you are using gif images. The easiest way to get rid of the rough edge, is to make sure the gif images in photoshop are using the same background color as your web background in dreamweaver.
In the save for web options you will find an option called matte. Normally this is blank, setting to other allows you to select additional colors.
This information is for CS2, I do not have CS3 yet, so I can not tell you of any changes.

Thats great, thanks Silkrooster! That will come in handy. But in my case I am using a patterned background in Dreaweaver, how do I get around that?

Melissa,

You can either turn off antialliasing (downside is your rounded corners will look a bit jagged)or set a matte that is a midtone of your background – that way the contrast round the edges will be less noticeable.
