On startup of Photoshop CS3, the following message comes up:

Could not load the FastCore Routines module because it does not work with this version of Photoshop.

Running Windows XP Home with SP2

After clicking "ok" the message goes away, but shows up each time the program is started.

I would appreciate any clues as to what this message means.

This can be caused if you have CS3’s preferences set to use your CS2 plug-ins directory for additional plug-ins. You don’t want one version of Ps to try loading plug-ins that are part of another version of the program.

Art,

It sounds like you’ve either copied your plug-ins directory from a prior PS version into your PS CS3 installation, or else you’ve got a secondary plug-ins directory specified in your preferences, which points to a path where earlier PS plug-ins are being loaded from as well. That is, you should take care to ensure that the native plug-ins installed with one version of PS are not copied into or otherwise seen by a newer version, since they are often updated from one version to the next.
