I’m trying to type text on a path that I’ve created as a custom shape. The shape was converted from a selection of a spiral shaped picture.
Then I create the path on a layer by selecting the path tool/custom shape, I drag the shape to stretch it to fit the space where I want the text to be and I find that it works as long as I don’t stretch the shape too much. After some limit, what happens when I try to place the text cursor on the path is that it just draws a little box with no cursor and when I type the text, It does not appear on the path but it does show up as a label in the pallette area. I’m using CS3 Extended Version 10.0

One of the settings might have been changed. Try resetting the type tool from the character palette menu here:

No, that doesn’t seem to be the problem. I’ve constructed an image file and shape file that demonstrate the problem but I don’t see a way to upload them to the forum.

You can upload them to Pixentral.com and copy/paste the HTML code under the image in a post here.

Thanks for the suggestion, Pixcentral only takes a few types of files but I remembered that Road Runner gives you a little bit of space so I put the files and a couple sentences describing how to use them here: <http://home.nc.rr.com/mrtpage/>
