Hello folks. I’m using CS2 and I’ve deleted a PS graphic and I’m trying to get a copy of it from a PageMaker document that has this graphic Placed within it. I tried copy and placing it into PS but I didn’t get very good quality and it’s proportions are not correct, it’s squashed vertically.

I tried Exporting the graphic from PM and the message appears "Cannot locate graphic ……. Continue to export using low resolution version?" and clicked OK and actually got a better quality version but it is still squashed. I could stretch it out myself, but I’d rather not have to guess at its correct proportions. Any ideas anybody? Why is it coming out squashed? The preview image you get in the Open window is not squashed.

If the graphic is placed, then the hires infromation is not there, merely a link to the hires copy (which you say you deleted) That’s what the cannot locate grpahic message is telling you.

Hello Cybernetic, yes, I realised what the ‘Cannot locate graphic" message was about, it’s just that I can’t understand why the graphic is squashed, especially so when the ‘preview’ is not. What does hires mean? I’ve never seen that expression before. Do you mean Hi-Res?

Basically, are you stating that because I’ve deleted the original there’s no hope, as the information for proportions was there?

When you get the squashed low-res image open in Photoshop, go to pixel aspect ration and see if it’s set to square or some other setting. Change it t none, or square, and see what happens. It’ll still be low quality but your proportion will be right.
