brush leaves a dot (overlay) when I hold shift key and click multiple times

When using the brush tool I have the problem of it leaving a dot every time I click in a straight line using the shift key.

Here is what I do. Select the brush tool. I set the opacity to 30% which is critical for what I am doing. Click while holding the shift key on the canvas. A dot shows up on the screen. While holding the shift key, move the curser two inches away and click again. Keep doing this every two inches and a darker dot shows up along the path of clicks.

I do not want the "dots" to show up. Version 6.0 did not do this. Is there a way around this?

You’ll have to set the layer’s Opacity to 30% and leave the brush on 100. Otherwise you’ll be stacking the opacities of the endpoints of your brush strokes. Those are the dots you’re seeing. I don’t know of another workaround but someone else might.

Open the Brushes palette, and click on "Brush Tip Shape". Make sure the "Spacing" box near the bottom is checked.

I see I didn’t read your question closely enough. I now see what you’re referring to.

Try making a multi-segment line with the Pen tool, and then stroking it with the brush. This will draw the line in one continuous motion, rather than the overlapping discrete strokes that are causing the dark overlap.

A work around is to draw it on another layer at 100% brush opacity then drop the layer opacity to 30%. This will ensure that the density of the brush is consistant.

hehehe…. trying to catch up on 40 odd digests and missed that one. i have noticed that if you click onthe message number in the email digests it doesn’t show the entire thread, just the inital message and the msg your responding to. Could be why #1 gets missed so often.
