I own Photoshop CS2 for Windows XP, and I am having a problem with the color replacement tool. The problem is, I want to turn something that’s gray black, but it won’t let me. It will work with other colors (like red) but not black or white. How do I fix this or what do I need the settings to be at?

Gray, white, and black aren’t "colors". Red, green, yellow, magenta, cyan, blue, and the variations thereupon are.

So I can’t do black or white?

No, you heed to select the area and use Levels to alter grey to black (or white)
