Can we load multiple actions at the same time now with CS3?

Unless I am missing something, and believe me I hope that I am, I cannot see where CS3 allows one to load more than one action at a time. When you have a couple of hundred action sets, it is a pain to have to go in a load each one, one by one. Why can’t I select multiple actions to load? Or better yet, why can’t I just put my .atn files in a directory that CS3 uses to automatically load actions upon startup like it does with 3rd party plug-ins? What am I missing that would allow me to do this?

If it’s like previous versions, Presets>Photoshop Actions. The Actions should then appear on the Actions palette flyout menu for quick loading.

EDIT: You still have to choose them individually, but it’s a lot faster.

Its not really that much faster as at least CS3 remembers the last folder used when you load actions. And why is it called "load actions" when you can only load one action at a time? It should be "Load Action".

The real question here is why Adobe cannot or will not make loading actions easier for their users? How many versions of Photoshop have then been since actions and we still have to load one by one?

Well, it’s a little faster because you don’t have to actually go through Load Actions, just click on it in the menu.

It’s called Load Actions because you can load lots of actions at once; only one Set at a time. Might be better to combine a lot of actions into one handy Set.

I have never had a problem with it, but maybe you could do a Feature Request.

You are right, I actually tried to load multiple action "sets", not actions. Most of my action sets come from 3rd parties. There are a lot of "freebies" out there that I use only occasionally. And I have quite of few paid for action sets too that I use much more often, along with the ones that I have created. As far as I know, there is no way to combine multiple sets?

After loading many sets today, I will thank adobe for providing an "undo" after I accidentally did a replace actions instead of load actions. But I put in this a feature request years ago. I guess that I am the only one who finds it time-consuming to load multiple sets every time we have a new release. And multiply the time it takes to load one set by how many licensed copies of PS and actions that you have. At a large shop with many users, I can see where some organizations may not upgrade as frequently just to avoid the lost productivity over re-loading all of their actions. For the amount of time that I alone have spent reloading actions over the years, I could have written the programming code for Adobe to allow one to select multiple sets at once. Unless they have some crazy code, this should be a quicky program change.

How to load multiple action sets in a single pass:
* Open Explorer window where your multiple .atn files reside * Open PS
* Resize PS window so you can see the Explorer window
* Select > All, or select individual .atn files in the Explorer window * Drag/drop into PS Window
