Scanner for glass slide

I have some old b&w glass positive slides, about 3"x3", that I want to get into Photoshop and Premiere. Can anyone recommend a particualr scanner or approach to get the job done? The slides are about 1/8" thick.

Most modern film scanners would cope with that just fine.

Thanks! By film scanner, do you mean something other than the document and photo scanners?

Well yes. A film scanner is purpose built to handle film. Most have a range of holders for cut film and mounted slides.

You can get flatbed scanners with a transparency hood which will do a reasonable job – but never as good as one built for the job.

If you plan to purchase one for the job, make sure it can take these glass slides (some are limited in the thickness they can accept since they are built for film, not glass plates.

Several years ago, I used a Scitex EversmartPro to scan 100+ year old glass negs with good results. You probably don’t want something that expensive, but if you find a scan house with one, you may want to consider getting them to do the job.
