I am trying to use the clone stamp tool in CS3. Every time I click the source, I get a message "Could not set the clone source because more than one layer is selected". Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong.

Try selecting only one layer in the layers palette

Ok I got that figured out. But now the problem is when I go to the spot I want touched up and use the clone stamp it just turns everything black wherever I use the stamp.

Check the option bar. Do you have "use all layers" selected?
