I was trying to make a circular path and started with the shape tool and that worked and realized I needed to make a path to wrap text around.

So I switched to make path shape tool and I click on the picture and nothing happens. I get the plus sign and then a very small plus sign next to it.

I have 89 GB of hard drive space out of 140 GB. I have 1 GB ram. I am using Photoshop Extended CS3 on Windows Vista.

Has anyone ever come across this issue. I’m sure it’s a simple fix but I can’t get it. I’ve closed photoshop and restarted and it still won’t put a shape or a path on my image.

Thanks.

When you changed from the Shape Layer icon to Path icon, you deselected the Vector Mask for the Shape you had created. If you look in the Paths palette (and the Shape layer you just made is active), it should still be there.

Select the Vector Mask path in the Paths palette, and you can put your text on that path. Your text will retain that path, even if you delete the Shape Layer.

Thanks for the reply but I found out what the problem was. I’m a total dork. I had it set at a fixed size of 602in x 499in. and it was supposed to be pixels so it was there it was just way too large and I wasn’t seeing it.
But thanks for the prompt reply, it’s good to know these forums really work. I used to work for Adobe and refer people to them all the time but never used them myself. πŸ™‚
