One post is quite enough. I’ve deleted the duplicate and will leave this one here.

Don’t expect a warm welcome when your first post is such obvious flame bait.

If you think it’s crap, why do you care about what it costs?

The answer is that Photoshop is professional software, and in a professional setting it pays for itself quite quickly.

….from which I deduce YOU didn’t!

So.

Either you’ve downloaded the trial and don’t like/understand it. (go get Picasa)

or…

You work for someone who requires you to use their Photoshop. (Give it a chance / take some tutorials – you’ll get to love it!)

or…

You got a pirated version and came here for free advice. (go to H3LL and stop wasting our time)

Please feel free to pick the most appropriate question/answer.

Everything must seem expensive if one cannot afford punctuation. 🙂

In eternal optimism that posters here are not trolls…
Any software is costly to produce. A program like Photoshop could only exist by evolving.

Unlike in nature, evolution of a software company consumes money in very large amounts. If Adobe didn’t make enough profit to be able fund development of the next generation of products, we’d all be scratching negatives with pencils to fix faults.

Just look at the credit list every time you load an Adobe product and consider each one of these people has to be paid for their inventive genius and they have to be given a comfortable place to work. None of which comes cheap.

Yes, Adobe products are expensive. They are pretty much reliable and bug free too. There are plenty of free and cheap programs around where the developers got their ideas from Adobe, go use that stuff if you can’t afford to be here. No one at Adobe will mind.

Actually, Cinepaint <http://www.cinepaint.org> may be a better GPL option than GIMP.

What frustration is there in using free software?

Well the OP seems to have found plently whilst using Photoshop for free.

no frustration if you are not required to output anything requiring the letters C, M, Y, or K on a daily basis…otherwise…you will find the freebies lacking in that department…

richard miller, software pirate not educated enough to be able to read the help files or hold down a good job long enough to actually buy something other than meth.

I suggest you get rehabbed like Britney Spears then pay for an education so you will be able to understand how to use Photoshop.
