I scanned a document in photoshop CS2 and wanted to save the document as a jpg and the option was not allowed. The resolution was at 300dpi. I brought the file over to another pc to try in that photoshop CS2 and still the problem existed. I know there’s an option to save files as jpgs in photoshop as I have done it hundreds of times, why was this time any different? Any ideas as to why the option for the jpg disappeared for that file?

Probably your Image>Mode shows the image as a 16 bit one. Convert to 8 bit and you are laughing.

Many scanners produce 16 bit/channel images.
