I can’t believe they trashed Image Ready in CS3. This is the first upgrade I ever recalled where they axed a very important part of the program.
I don’t want to have to go to Dreamweaver for javascripting rollovers or Image Maps…it was so convenient in Image Ready! Maybe Adobe’s not finished developing…I dunno but I really want Image Ready and GoLive back!

Surely you didn’t ditch IR CS2, did you?

No, of course not…but one just expects the "jump to IR" to still be in the latest version. Like I said, I’ve been into Photoshop since version 4 and I don’t ever remember them axing something from a newer version…just the opposite…they just add MORE.

IR is dead and has been for quite some time. CS2 had no new features from CS. MOST of the functionality has been moved into the main program and what wasn’t is now found in Fireworks.

And, what wasn’t moved over was stuff that in general is no longer in wide use on the web.

Robert,
And 46.7 of all statistics are made up on the spot, eh? LOL I was never polled and I know several others using IR that were not asked by Adobe or anyone if they used or did not use IR.

they know you need it. they know there’s a 58.2 chance you’ll spend a couple hundred bux to get a new product (fireworks) to do things that photoshop (the flagship!) used to do for free. there’s 4.2 percent of upper management who care you’re upset.

You do realize the code that Image Ready produced was horribly inefficient code don’t you. Also, GoLive has a new version…version 9.

Image Ready was originally added to make images ready for the web. That funtionality is now included in PS without the need to "jump to"

Thanks…don’t know if signing it will have a 52.3% chance of changing anything Adobe does…but I signed it anyway. The current functionality of preparing images for the Web with CS3 Photoshop is very limited and is NOWHERE near what it was with IR ability to generate rollovers, image maps, entire html pages with built in javascript! I know the workaround is probably going to take several other steps and have to use Dreamweaver to compensate.
I happen to be a GoLive girl, too!

No I never had problems with the code and no, I didn’t realize there was a CS3 version of GoLive because they sure didn’t even offer it in the "big kahuna" of the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection which is what I purchased.

I wonder how long GL will be continue to be upgraded, now that there is Dreamweaver. Perhaps it will become the Dreamweaver Lite in the future.

You may not have had trouble with the code, but chances are, some of your viewers did. You should run one of your Image Ready created web pages through a validator. Try http://validator.w3.org/ and put one of your pages through this. I’m guessing you ‘ll be surprised at the number of validation errors you’ll find.

I have been trying to get into Fireworks CS3 and it really has nothing on Imageready. I can’t even have one slice sitting on top of another, it tries to break up the image as if I’d made 4 slices. Doesn’t matter whether I’ve got it in a different Web Layer or what not. I would have no problem using Fireworks if they would add the functionality of Imageready into it.

What’s the story with Adobe? Who honestly thought trashing Imageready would be good for anyone, except Shareholders perhaps.

I’ve signed that petition, but we only have 18 signatures on it so far, we need a few more to start the revolution I think 🙂 Hope more people voice their opinions on it as I don’t know anyone who thinks it’s a good idea.

Yeah, it’s probably Adobe Shareholder CS3 that offers a better print module, restores highly desirable ImageReady functionality, prevents the main app window from snatching away a floating image window, opens images at a functional/useful magnification level…

At the very least though, yes, Shareholder CS3 is also what prompts Adobe to remove functionality so that in order to recover at least some of that functionality, users are driven toward buying another product at a significant added expense.

…Adobe Shareholder CS3…<

I can’t find this in the Adobe Store. When will it be available for pre-order? I can’t wait!
