I recently installed my i9900 back into my system, after purchasing and installing an Epson 3800. The Canon is on a computer other than my primary one, which are networked.

The Canon now prints with a huge magenta cast, and only one thing will fix it: Go to CS and print from there.

It’s not networking, because I can plug the printer into the main computer and see the same results. It’s no error in setup as the 3800 behaves itself, and the setup for either CS3 or CS is the same so far as the i9900 is concerned.

The setup is as follows:

Photoshop Manages colors, Printer Profile Canon i9900 MP1. I am using matte paper on both machines.

The Canon is set to Color Adjustment Manual, Print Type None, my usual settings and the one I use for CS as well.

So what gives?

FYI, on both computers I uninstalled and re-installed the Canon drivers, and reset the networking.

As I recall, the Canon was printing well from CS3 before you added the Epson, right?

I wonder how the Canon will print if the Epson is uninstalled…

It was.

I may try that.

It’s fixed, but I don’t know exactly why.

It ran from CS, but not CS3. So, I uninstalled it again, and this time I downloaded a fresh copy of the current drivers. I also updated the firmware. It now prints from CS3 with no problems.

So it looks as if I had a corrupt downloaded file from which I installed the drivers to the secondary computer.

As an aside, with both the corrupted and the new drivers, rebooting brought up a blue screen with the same 0x….. message, just before the os actually loaded. I’ve seen this many times at Intel, so I went ahead and rebooted through the reset function. In fact, the presence of the BSOD was the factor that encouraged me to go to the Canon website for updates. The file name hadn’t changed, but I installed from the newer D/L anyway. Got the BSOD again, reset and everything SEEMS to be running.

Sigh!
