Recently a restructure has tasked me with creating ZENworks objects at my job. I have about 1 month of ZENworks experience under my belt now, however I’ve been in a Novell environment for about 9 years. I know snapshots are not the way I want to go, and previously that has been the method for deploying Photoshop and other adobe products. I’m running into 2 problems.

1. I can’t seem to get the silent install to work. I have copied the folders, added the override in the correct location and in ZEN I have added the appropriate arguments for an install. None of my options work.

2. How can I install CS3 with an MSI? I’ve read that you have to use the setup.exe, not the msi.

I appreciate any help provided.

don’t know about zen, but maybe this thread can help with the silent install

do a forum search for silent install and a few other threads will pop up, including that one…

The odd thing that is happening to me with the silent install is the lack of a complete install. I have not specified any components to not install. The utilities will install but not Photoshop.

I did not remove the code from the deployment.xml
I have the exact same options mentioned in this post.
I have tried the install from a command line, and by using ZENworks run options. Photoshop won’t install for me.

I am having the same problem with silent install, even more frustrating I cannot just go and install manually. The installer (after about 30mins) finishes with a message "component install failed" for photoshop.

The Adobe help desk told me that the error in my logs is because I need to un-install Google desktop, even though I don’t have it installed. They suggested (among other things) that I install Google desktop so I can un-install it and try again, which I am doing at the moment before I ring them back to tell them it didn’t work. >:^{

There seem to be a number of surrealistic solutions emanating from the desperate cubicles of the Adobe Support organisation at the moment.

fred seems to have hit upon a good solution to many of these strange cs3 problems:
