Arturo, Photoshop CS3’s printing is very messed up. In previous versions, when you select a printer and set its driver’s settings, that stayed set for subsequent printing sessions until you changed it or quit Photoshop. In CS3, Photoshop uses the system default printer and its default settings for each new document you create or open, requiring you to reselect the desired printer and settings each time — with one exception. The exception is that if you reopen a document that was previously printed (not sure whether it has to have been in the same Photoshop session; for safety’s sake let’s assume it does), it will use the same printer and settings as the previous time you printed it. I haven’t determined whether you need to save it after setting up the printer.

I would suggest two potential solutions for you to try:

(1) If your workflow uses a saved template, inserts the photos and information, and prints without first saving, then before beginning the process open the template, select the card printer and appropriate settings, go to the print dialog and set it up with the proper paper size and layout, close the print dialog and save. Now try your workflow as above.

(2) If your workflow creates a new file for each card with background graphics, data, and photos then inserted, then before starting Photoshop, make your card printer your default printer and set the appropriate settings and paper sizes. See whether this works for your workflow. After finishing and shutting down Photoshop, you can reset your default printer.
